Formative Pruning

Formative pruning is the process by which young trees can be shaped, in order to optimise the tree as it develops, perhaps to give it the best aesthetic appearance, or perhaps to maximise the yield of fruit.

Each tree variety has its own individual growth process, but if left unpruned, fruit trees, for example, will invariably produce a crown heavy with branches but yielding smaller, lower grade fruit.

Only by knowing and understanding your trees, as we do, can the correct action be taken.
