Dead Wooding
When tree branches die they can either break off, or be prone to rot and fungal disease, and in such circumstances, it is sensible – and occasionally necessary – to remove the dead wood to ensure that further damage to the tree and/or its surroundings is minimised.
A build-up of dead wood in a tree can also reduce its aesthetic appearance, decrease the amount of light that can pass through, making it more susceptible to high winds and attract pests.
Furthermore, clearing the dead wood from a tree reduces its total weight and so decreases the risk of limbs breaking off.
